I use an eclectic approach to working with my clients. Relationship counseling from within uses a variety of different tools, interactive dialogue, empathy, conscious breathing, journaling and visualization to increase your self-awareness. These tools help to activate your innermost essence. You possess an innate ability to connect with others. My passion is guiding you to find that part that desires to connect on a deeper level with someone. Regardless of the approach we choose, the most important part of therapy is the therapist-client relationship. I will listen attentively and nonjudgmentally to your concerns.
My primary goals is to teach you to reexamine your beliefs about your relationship. Additionally, I will work with you to deescalate arguments through becoming intensly aware of your emotions. I will use gratitude journaling with you and your partner (Please see below for details) Also, I will listen to you (as a couple) objectively, openly and empathically and that can be healing in itself. It is within your deepest essence to connect with your partner. You will notice that it is natural for you to want a deeper physical, emotional and spiritual connection with your partner. And I will help you manifest that desire and refocus on what brought the two of you together.
I use cognitive-behavioral (thoughts and emotions), psychodynamic (past family history and patterns) and gestalt (here-and-now, present moment) therapy while working with couples. I will enhance your strengths as a couple so that you can overcome the challenges you face daily. Based on your comfort level, I employ a variety of techniques which may include art and writing as a method to access emotions, assigning homework, active dialogue and relaxation and visualization. I love to use journaling ( a reflective form of writing) and art with clients.
